<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><span style="font-family: inherit; font-size: small;">Marriage (nikah) in Islam is not a sacrament and is revocable. A gift of Mahr is given to the bride from the groom and is a token of the husbands responsibility. It is usually paid at the time of the marriage or a later date. The marriage assembly is carried out by a state appointed Muslim judge (Qadi) who records the marriage contract and it is then filed with the Mosque and local government for record. After the ceremony, the groom holds a banquet (walima) where al relatives, neighbours and friends are invited in order to make them aware of the marriage.</span></div><span style="font-size: small;"></span></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>Kavitahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15796697149349288596noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4426097505537290222.post-45936203432758210132011-10-26T16:12:00.000-07:002011-10-26T16:31:31.299-07:00Quran<div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; mso-ascii-theme-font: major-latin; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; mso-hansi-theme-font: major-latin;"> </span><span style="font-size: 12pt; mso-ascii-theme-font: major-latin; mso-bidi-font-family: Cambria; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; mso-bidi-theme-font: major-latin; mso-fareast-font-family: Cambria; mso-fareast-theme-font: major-latin; mso-hansi-theme-font: major-latin;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;">1. </span></span><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span style="font-size: 12pt; mso-ascii-theme-font: major-latin; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; mso-hansi-theme-font: major-latin;">What does the word Quran translate to in English?</span></b><span style="font-size: 12pt; mso-ascii-theme-font: major-latin; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; mso-hansi-theme-font: major-latin;"> </span></span><br />

They are the accepted symbols of Islam since the eighteenth century; they appear on several flags of Islamic nations.Evene before the time of Muhammad they were found on the Ka'aba and it is said that Muhammad allowed these symbols to remain intact when he ordered the removal of the idols in the Ka'aba.<br />
<br />
<strong>No Symbols of Allah</strong><br />
Islam has Always insisted that there should be no idols and no images of Allah. An Islamic mosque is devoid of all statues and all paintings; this is in contrast to Christian churches. Islamic artists have compensated for this restriction by developing beautiful work and calligraphy.<br />
<br />

It was written by Matthew between 50 and 70 A.D. Mattew was a Jewish tax collector before he decided to quit and follow Jesus as one of his twelve apostles. Matthew is has 28 chapters and is split into eight different parts. The gospel of Matthew attempts to establish that Jesus is the Messiah and in it Matthew gives witness acounts of many of the miracles Jesus performed. This gospel describes Jesus birth, baptism, how he resisted the temptation of the devil and miracles he performed such as when he fed 5000 people with two fish and five loaves of bread as well as his crucifiction, death and resurrection.</div><br />
<strong>Mark</strong><br />
Mark is the second gospel in the New Testament of the Holy Bible. Mark was the friend of the apostle Simon Peter and in the gospel of Mark many of the accounts are Peter's. The book of Mark was written between 50 and 60 A.D and has 16 chapters. It is believed that the Mark wrote the book in Italy. Mark also talks of many of Jesus' miracles and is divided in to seven sections that desscribe Jesus' life. One of the other miracles described is wwhen Jesus walked on water.<br />
<br />
<strong>Luke </strong><br />
Luke is the third book of the New Testament. Luke was the author of this gospel as well as the author of the book of acts. Luke was friend s with the apostle Paul. It is agreed that the gospel of Luke wwas written between 59 and 70 A.D. In Luke Jesus' birth, childhood, and teachings about salvation and God's way of life are conveyed in particular. Luke is organised into 8 sections. There is much about the culture and families surrounding Jesus and events such as the Baptism of Jesus performed by John the baptist is included.<br />
<br />
<strong>John</strong><br />
John is the fourth gospel in the New Testament and is seen as unique and varying from the other gospels. John focuses more on spiritual themes rather than historical. This gospel was written between 50 and 85 A.D. John was a disciple who was known to love Jesus and the book of John is filled with many of his first hand accounts about the first 33 years of Jesus' life. There are also many parables in John which teach people lessons and of God's will.Kavitahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15796697149349288596noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4426097505537290222.post-966699224538581232011-08-31T17:57:00.001-07:002011-11-17T02:42:10.865-08:00Christianity Webquest<div class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 150%;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;"> 1.<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman";"> </span></span></span></b><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 150%;">How many followers are there of Christianity worldwide?</span></b><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 150%;"> There are 2.1 billion followers</span></div><div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt 36pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-indent: -18pt;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 150%;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;">2.<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman";"> </span></span></span></b><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 150%;">Place of Origin:</span></b><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 150%;"> The bases of the Christian religion originated in Jerusalem, however the religion emerged in the time of the Roman Empire.</span></div><div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt 36pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-indent: -18pt;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 150%;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;">3.<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman";"> </span></span></span></b><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 150%;">Founder: </span></b><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 150%;">Jesus<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"></b></span></div><div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt 36pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-indent: -18pt;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 150%;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;">4.<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman";"> </span></span></span></b><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 150%;">Sacred Text: </span></b><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 150%;">The Bible</span></div><div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt 36pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-indent: -18pt;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 150%;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;">5.<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman";"> </span></span></span></b><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 150%;">Name the two major Christian festivals: </span></b><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 150%;">Shrove Tuesday<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;">,<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></b>Palm Sunday<b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"> </b></span></div><div class="MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt 36pt; mso-list: l0 level1 lfo1; text-indent: -18pt;"><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 150%;"><span style="mso-list: Ignore;">6.<span style="font-family: "Times New Roman";"> </span></span></span></b><b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 10pt; line-height: 150%;">What are the four names that Jesus is known by? <br />
Christians believe Jesus is the son of God having becomme man and th saviour of humanity. Christians therefore commonly refer to Jesus as Christ or Messiah.<br />
<br />
<strong>Christian Beliefs</strong><br />
<ul><li>There is one God</li>
<li>The belief in the Trinity</li>
<li>God created the world and is good</li>
<li>Man is created in the image of God</li>
<li>Jesus, the son of God, was sent to save mankind</li>
<li>Belief in God brings salvation</li>
<li>The Holy Spirit direct the Church</li>
<li>Man has free will\</li>
</ul><strong>Variants off Christianity</strong><br />
Christianity contains three main branches which are:<br />
<ul><li>Roman Catholicism</li>
<li>Orthodox Church</li>
<li>Protestantism</li>
</ul><strong>Catholic Church</strong><br />
The catholic chuurch comprises those particular churches, headed by bishops, in communion with the Pope-Bishop of Rome, as it is the highest authority in matters of faith.<br />
<strong>Orthodox Church</strong><br />
Compromises those churches in communion with the Patriarchaal Sees of the East, such as the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople.<br />
<br />
In the 11th century the Catholic church Rome split with the eastern church (Constantinople-known as Turkey today). This split occured in the 11th Century and was called the Great Schism. As a result of this the Orhodox church was formed.<br />
<br />
<strong>Protestantism</strong><br />
In the 16th century, Martin Luther, Huldrych Zwingli, and John Calvin inaugurated what has come to be called Protestantism. There are many different forms of Protestant religions.<br />
<br />
Protestantism is a branch within Christianity, containing many denominations with some differing practices and doctrines, that principally originated in the sixteenth-century Protestant Reformation.<br />

Although Jews can prayer anywhere, some prayers can only be said in front of a quorum of 10 men called a minyan. A synsgogue is no the most sacred place of prayer, 'The Temple' is. A synagogue is the place ewhere children recieve the basis of their religious education and has a library of sacred texts for the community to study from. There is a hall in a synagogue in which religiou /non-religious activities can be held as well as where matters of importance can be discussed.
