8 Millenium Development Goals

When were they formed?
They were formed in the year 2000 in September.

Why were they formed?
They were formed to make sure that human development reaches everyone everywhere and so that everyone has an opportunity to benefit from the global economy.

List the 8 Millenium Devolopment Goals.
  • End poverty and hunger-between 1990 and 2015 halve the proportion of people whose income is less than $1 a day.
  • Universal education-ensure that by 2015 children everywhere,boys and girls alike, will be able to complete a full course of primary schooling.
  • Gender equality-eliminate gender disparity in primary and secondary education, preferably by 2005 and in all levels of education no later than 2015.
  • Child health-reduce the under five mortality rate by two thirds between 1990 and 2015.
  • maternal health-reduce the maternal mortality ratio by three quarters
  • Combat HIV/AIDS-rverse the spread of HIV/AIDS and have it halted by 2015
  • Environmental sustainability-Intergrate the principles of sustainable development into country policies and programmes and reversee the loss of environmental resources. 
  • Global partnership-develop further an open, rule-based, predictable, non-discriminatory trading and financial system.
